My name is Anne and I love to Nordic walk!
I invite you to join me as I walk around the paths and trails of Barrhaven and South Nepean. Come and join the group as we try out some of the beautiful trails available just a few kilometres from Barrhaven. Not only is it fun to walk and chat, but there is safety in numbers!

As someone with years of chronic back pain due to Degenerative Disk Disease and Spinal Stenosis, I was thrilled to discover Nordic Walking, or Urban Poling, to be a pain free way to exercise and stay fit.  After only a couple of sessions I was totally hooked!
 
I have always been active in skiing, snowshoeing, biking, golf and a variety of other outdoor activities, but as my episodes of back pain became more frequent and more severe, I found I was being limited in what I could do.  Having been a regular "walker" for many years, it was often the only form of exercise that did not cause pain.  
 
Urban poling has made walking a new and exciting activity.  By using poles I increase my level of workout by at least 20%.  By varying the terrain and the speed of the walk, I can make the workout as gentle or as intense as I wish.
